Child Labour Prevention and Human Rights Due Diligence Training for Brands and Suppliers

Practical, expert-led online training to help businesses prevent child labour, strengthen human rights due diligence (HRDD) and meet buyer expectations in global supply chains.

For 15 years, The Centre for Child Rights and Business has helped companies understand and address their impact on children and families. Having directly handled more than 1,600 child labour cases and worked with businesses across more than 30 countries, we bring first-hand experience to the challenges brands and suppliers face.

The Centre’s Learning Lab turns this expertise into practical, live online training. Our in-house trainers help businesses translate international standards and buyer requirements into effective workplace systems that protect children, support responsible sourcing and strengthen compliance.

Real-world expertise. Practical Skills. Stronger Supply Chains.

Our training draws on field experience and international frameworks, including the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) and OECD guidance. Participants gain practical knowledge and tools they can apply within their own organisations and supply chains.

Learning Lab training helps businesses to:

  • Identify and address child labour and other human rights risks.

  • Strengthen prevention, remediation and HRDD systems.

  • Improve social compliance and respond to buyer expectations.

  • Recruit and manage young workers responsibly.

Training for suppliers: how can I meet my buyer's compliance requirements?

Suppliers often need practical guidance to understand customer expectations and improve workplace systems. Learning Lab training addresses common questions, including:

  • How can I respond to my buyer’s concerns about child labour? Learn how to identify risks, prevent child labour and respond appropriately when cases are found.

  • How can my factory meet HRDD and social compliance requirements? Understand buyer expectations and strengthen risk assessment, prevention and remediation processes.

  • How can I prepare for a customer audit? Identify gaps in workplace systems and improve procedures to address compliance concerns and prevent recurring issues.

  • How can I recruit and manage young workers responsibly? Understand relevant safeguards and promote safe, decent work for young people.

  • How can I strengthen responsible practices across my supply chain? Build knowledge of human rights risks, supplier engagement and responsible business practices.

Our wider expertise also covers family-friendly workplaces and gender-sensitive approaches to supporting workers. Brands and retailers can nominate suppliers for relevant training or share course information so suppliers can register independently, subject to each programme’s arrangements.

Training for brands and retailers

Learning Lab also supports sourcing, sustainability, compliance and human rights teams in strengthening HRDD, understanding child labour risks and engaging suppliers more effectively. Practical training helps buying companies build supplier capacity and support longer-term compliance improvements across their supply chains.

The group discussions and presentations by group representatives during the training left a deep impression on me. This segment not only allowed me to hear perspectives from personnel with more practical production experience, but also deepened my understanding of the various concepts. In my future work, this will enable me to better assist factory management in their respective tasks.
